Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits details sound familiar
IGN has an interview with Paul Gadbois, producer on Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits, the franchise-milking upcoming compilation of what Activision has determined are the most popular songs from every console GH title to date. Canadian development studio and port-expert, Beenox, is putting together the disc, which hits 360, PS3, PS2 and Wii in June. (It's confirmed at $60 for the 360/PS3 release, $40 on Wii and $30 on PS2.) According to Gadbois, this mash-up of previous Guitar Hero games will offer full band play on all 48 of its included (master) tracks, while also including the music studio, character creation, and ...
King of Fighters XII hits PS3, 360 worldwide this July
Ignition Entertainment has just announced a July 2009 worldwide release for King of Fighters XII, the impossibly gorgeous first HD entry in SNK Playmore's long-running 2D fighting series, on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The fighter features 20 playable characters, all of whom appear as newly redrawn sprites, fighting in equally impressive 2D backgrounds. According to the press release, preview footage and images for this unbelievably hot game are included in the PS2 release of King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match, itself a fairly nice-looking KOF -- which happens to be out today. Prepare to be burned by the Orochi ...
Xbox Live Arcade Awards voting kicks off March 3
Oscars, Schmoscars. Microsoft is letting Xbox Live users cast their votes for the best Xbox Live Arcade games of 2008 starting on March 3. Foregoing any sort of web-based ballot, votes will be cast from within the New Xbox Experience's Spotlight Channel. Voting will wrap up on Tuesday, March 10, with users permitted to change their votes -- but not vote multiple times -- as often as they'd like, up to that point. Have a look at the full list of categories and nominees (your "sample ballot," if you will) after the break. Best Overall Arcade Game Braid Castle Crashers Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 Street ...
Quake 3 Arena for XBLA is ‘very close’ to being finished
Despite being first spotted on the ESRB's leak-prone website nearly two years ago, and officially confirmed at QuakeCon over 18 months ago, id's John Carmack assures us that Pi Studios – developers behind the Xbox Live Arcade release of classic multiplayer shooter Quake 3 Arena – is "actually very close to finishing that up." He didn't identify any specific reasons for the delay, but said that the developer had "different things come up at different times" like having to "shift people onto different projects." With Quake Live finally opening its doors to the public today, we asked if the two development ...
Singularity spawns multiple screenshots, first trailer
In Raven Software's latest FPS, Singularity, you play as a salesperson for Cingular Wireless, now AT&T Wireless. No, that's not right. Oh yes. You play as a character who, unlike a Cingular salesperson, can manipulate time -- travel through it, use it to make folks age to death ... y'know, the usual. Anyway, the game's publisher, Activision, has released the first trailer for it and a couple dozen screenshots. The game looks mighty good, but we won't be totally convinced until we confirm players can use time to grow beards quickly. That and play it at E3. [nggallery id=4]
Legends of Wrestlemania Fighters List
The upcoming THQ title Legends of Wrestlemania is going to be like a cold popsicle on a hot summer's day for grown-up fans of wrestling in its golden era. The game brings together more than 40 stars of Wrestlemania events from the 1980s and 1990s. Names such as Andre the Giant, Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan, and Steve Austin will be familiar even to those wussies that don't like wrestling. The game, which features an all-new grappling and combo-based gameplay system, is due out on March 24 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. By piecing together evidence from early previews, company ...
Wolfenstein Coming to Xbox 360, Slips to Summer 2009
As shooter fans, we have been eagerly following the development of the latest Wolfenstein project by Raven Soft. After a flurry of initial hype, we didn’t hear anything more about this open-world shooter, which is being published by Activision-Blizzard. Last night during the company’s fourth quarter financial conference call, Activision confirmed that Wolfenstein will still be coming to consoles this year, but the release date has slipped to summer 2009. The title will release for the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms. The story so far sounds intriguing: Nazis are working to open a portal to another dimension, called “The ...
Hands-on with Wanted: Weapons of Fate
Do you remember Enter the Matrix? How about last year's Iron Man? Quantum of Solace, anyone? Gamers have good reason to distrust movie licensed games. However, Wanted: Weapons of Fate finds itself in a rather unique predicament -- it's based on a franchise people aren't passionate about. Do Batman injustice, and gamers will cry bloody murder. Mess up Wanted, and no one will notice. Perhaps it's because of the original film's clout, but there simply isn't much hype surrounding GRIN's upcoming game. If strong franchises lead to terrible games, what faith can we place in a game based on a mediocre ...
